外側前頭-頭頂領域が関わる外的システムと内側前頭-頭頂領域が関わる内的システムを分離した研究。外的，内的な認識に関わるシステム間にはanticorrelationが認められている。DMNは内的な認識の程度と関連する一方，外側前頭-頭頂皮質は外的な認識の程度と関連。
